But a new single is listed at Amazon and Bandcamp by Jimmy Lee Morris called "Christmas 1914" and it would appear to fit the description McDermott gave in that it's a new song written from the perspective of a soldier. Morris wrote most of the song years ago, but finished it up earlier this year so that it's release could coincide with the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. World War I formally ended at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day on the eleventh month of 1918--which is why Veterans Day is always celebrated on November 11.
While checking on the net for McDermott's possible recording, I also came across another song called "Christmas 1914". This "Christmas 1914" was written and performed by British singer/songwriter and author Mike Harding. Originally released in 1977, it was remastered and rereleased in 2014--the 100th anniversary of the Christmas Truce. Mr. Harding's "Christmas 1914" is currently available as a free download via Soundcloud.
