The Layaways Christmas album, "Maybe Next Year" has been around for several years, now. It was released, originally, in 2009 (IIRC) and some of the tracks are older still, having been part of an earlier EP. It floats in and out of "freeness" and I try to call attention to it when its in one of its free incarnations. Here at Stubby's, we included it in one of our link dumps in 2010. The arrangements are great--fresh and original--and the band incorporates influences as diverse as Country and Shoegaze. I've always dug the disc and it has achieved something of a cult status, owing (at least in part) to being free so often. So, anyway, its free again--this time at Noisetrade. If you haven't heard "Maybe Next Year" yet, now's as good a time as any. I just wish The Layaways would give us something new to play with. | |
