Last year Warner Brothers released a digital collection entitled "Gift Wrapped: 20 Songs That Keep On Giving" and that set was such a smashing success, they're doing it again. "Gift Wrapped II: Snowed In", however, will feature a few more bells and whistles than it's predecessor. The collection features 11 brand new never-before-released tracks, including original holiday songs from Devo and hard rockers Cavo, as well as a handful of tracks that have long been hard to come by in any form, such as the Oasis cover of Slade's immortal "Merry Christmas Everybody". Extra special bonus content is on the way and Warners says they'll announce that soon.
But wait! There's more! Although this is essentially a digital release, Warner Brothers plans to press up a limited number of 2-record vinyl sets (anybody remember the Promo-only "Winter Warnerland"?) which will not be available for sale anywhere but, instead, will be given out as gifts at undisclosed locations. So don't be naughty, be nice!
On top of all that, there will also be specially sequenced CDs available on November 22. Independent music retailers will offer up a collection entitled "Gift Wrapped: A Change In Season" while Hot Topic will have "Gift Wrapped: Stocking Stuffer". All of which is destined to delight many music fans and deliver the hard core Christmas music collector into a season from Hell. But we mean that in a good way, right?
