Known for such bold innovations as initiating the first ever Internet recitals in the late 90s, Jeffrey Biegel is among the most revered pianists and most sought after composers and arrangers in the world of concert piano. His interpretations of the classical composers (such as Liszt, Bach and Beethoven), as well as those of more modern masters (like Leroy Anderson, Ira Gershwin and Duke Ellington) are legendary. And he's not afraid to tackle Neil Sedaka either.
There are no samples yet available, so it's hard to speak about the album with any precision. But the program looks nice and varried--everything from "Nutcracker" to "Christmas Is A Coming (And The Geese Are Getting Fat)"--and the CD back (viewable on Amazon) demonstrates that Mr. Biegel has populated the disc with many original arrangements. One that had me saying, "yeah, I'd love to hear that" was "Hark The Herald Angels Sing" done in the style of Beethoven. As Mr. Biegel is playing a Steinway Grand Piano on the Steinway & Sons label (and given the reputations all around) one can expect this disc to be an audiophile's delight.
