It's not that you never see free Country Christmas singles. You see 'em plenty. People Magazine still does their annual thing, which is always Country. Of course, that's through iTunes and my MAC is incompatible with iTunes (think about the absurdity of that) so I'll never mention it here again. But I can't recall ever finding a free Country Christmas single on Soundcloud, of all places. Mot a good one, anyway. So this one surprised the crap out of me. And it's a good one, too.
Craig Moritz is a Canadian Country singer, but he sounds Nashville enough coming through the speakers on the tongue-in-cheek Honky Tonkin' tune that is "The Christmas Party". And it contains one of the best turns of a Christmas phrase in years when Craig laments that he got drunk at the Christmas party and "mistletoed a girl (I didn't know her name)". He also gave his boss a swirlee. So, naturally, Craig says, "If I have a job come Monday, I'll have to say I'm sorry." Ya think?
