FFH stands for Far From Home and Far From Home is a Contemporary Christian Pop group that came together in rural Pennsylvania beginning in 1991. The group was founded as Four For Harmony (thus the FFH theme) by Jeromy Deibler and Brian Smith, but has generally been centered around Jeromy and his wife Jennifer. Michael Boggs is the group's fourth.
FFH worked hard writing, recording and touring--building a following. An Independent group, things took a turn once their singles began charting. Charting and doing exceedingly well. The band got noticed and signed to a deal with Essential. All of which meant more writing, recording, and touring...and touring...and touring...some 200+ shows a year. Sure the band had some top selling AC and CCM singles ("Fly Away", "Watching Over Me") and albums to show for it. But it was wrecking havoc on their personal lives--particularly the young married couple of Jeromy and Jennifer Deibler. “In 2006 my wife and I had been married for 11 years," recalls Jeromy. "Ten of those years we had been in FFH, touring and traveling together.” The couple found themselves being interviewed and asked how they kept their marriage so strong living on the road. They answered honestly that they weren't doing very well at it at all and their marriage was on the brink of divorce.
Burnt out, the group completed their contractual obligations and then agreed to take an "indefinite break". Jeromy and Jennifer headed to Africa, certain that their days with FFH were over. After completing their mission in Africa, the couple moved back to the states, but with no intention of going back to FFH. Gradually, Jeromy found himself writing songs again. Jennifer gave birth, Jeromy was treated for MS.
Then, in December 2008, the couple knew it was time. Jeromy and Jennifer say it was like God throwing a light switch. And, this time, they decided it would be different. No more 200+ shows a year, no more worrying about record sales. This time their real lives away from the band would come first. This time, FFH was just going to make music and let God take care of the rest. So far, that's working out pretty well.
FFH music is highly accessible Adult Contemporary Pop. And if that sounds like something you'd enjoy, then head to the band's website now and you can stream the title track from "One Silent Night". It won me over.
There is the matter of the release date. Amazon says October 11, while the band's website says October 18. I tend to side with the bands in these matters, but we'll know in a few weeks regardless.
