King points to the album's "Chanukah Prayer" as a personal highlight. The traditional song was taught to Carole by her parents when she was young and has been given a warm jazz influenced arrangement. Carole shares vocals on "Chanukah Prayer" with both her daughter and grandson.
King has had a long and legendary career. As a songwriter in the famous Brill Building, she wrote such timeless hits as "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?", "One Fine Day" and "Up On The Roof". As a performer, Carole's "Tapestry" set a Billboard record by staying on the album charts for an amazing 305 consecutive weeks. Her next six albums were certified either gold or platinum and all except 1977's "Simple Things" climbed well into the Top Ten. Most recently, Carole recorded and toured with James Taylor; last year's "Live At The Troubadour" with Taylor was another Top Ten album, certified gold.
As for Christmas music, King previously released a single, "Love For Christmas", which was included on the 2-CD set "Love Makes The World".
The release of "A Holiday Carole" fits snuggly between Carole's successes with James Taylor last year and the release next year of her memoir, A Natural Woman.
