Here's what I like about Roy. He sat down one day and asked himself, "What is it that makes me happy?" The first thing that came to mind was Christmas. So first of all, good answer. But, beyond that, Roy now seems intent on making a living out of the thing that makes him happy. Sometimes that's doing an eclectic Christmas radio show and sometimes that's recording Christmas songs.
You might remember Roy's Christmas single from a few years back, "Christmas On The Beach". Roy says his sound is a combination of Texas breeze and Las Vegas glitz, but, however he came by it, "Christmas On The Beach" firmly established Roy as a disciple of the Jimmy Buffett style. Personally, I also thought he had a bit of Robert Starling in him (Don't worry about it; I'm probably one of only a handful of people who remember Robert Starling. Trust me, it's a good thing.). Among his influences, Roy also lists Bing Crosby and Dean Martin and, yeah, I can hear that in there too.
Anyway, the new single, "Island Holiday", is another fine slice of Caribbean flavored smooth and easy, perfectly designed to set your thoughts to island escapism. I'm sure Roy's waiting for you with a tropical drink that has your name on it (and maybe a plate of coconut shrimp as well). And it doesn't get any easier in this life than free, now does it? Stop by Roy's special page, while it lasts, and pick it up. And be watching for the full EP, "When Christmas Comes Around", due out November 9th at virtually anyplace fine digital music is sold.
As it happens, Roy will be doing his Christmas radio show on Sunday (11/7, 11/14, 11/28, etc.), so head on over to his web site around 2 PM and get to know Roy Holliday just a little bit better.
