Cliff Roberson is the founder and current head honcho of Roberson Wine, a London wine merchant noted for their extensive selection and frequent wine tasting events. Roberson founded his namesake in 1991 and, in recent years, has been the recipient of some of the highest accolades and awards in the business. For some reason I don't think even God understands, Cliff decided to record a rap song about his life in the wine business. And he's giving it away as his "Christmas single". There's no title on the thing, so I'm just calling it "Roberson's Rap". Download it on the Roberson Wine web site, if you're curious (and even if you're not). You might want to have a glass or two before indulging...I mean, listening.
OK. This is weird. This is so weird, I have to post about it even if it's not truly a Christmas song. This is the kind of thing that, 20 years from now, people will say, "Oh my God, did that really happen?" I mean, this is historically weird.

Most of the talk has been about the wicked collaboration of Wavves and Best Coast, but Little Jackie's spicy R&B groove should not be overlooked. Guster's been around for a while and the last time we heard from Little Isadore was when he sang "Christmas Of Love" for the Grinch soundtrack. A winning collection from start to finish that you can stream or download. Free! 13 tracks in all--one for each of the 12 days of Christmas and one more for good measure. Don't miss "The Christmas Gig". Mentioned on the front page, a while back, that the group singing "Up On The Housetop" and "Jingle Bells" in the new Hyundai commercials is Pomplamoose. Pomplamoose is more performance art than recording artist. For the most part, they do what they do in YouTube videos, not on CD or record. But they do have a batch of mp3s for sale on iTunes and their own web site. It took me a while to be able to read their handwriting, but "O Come All Ye Faithful" is a free download at their web site. Just scroll all the way down until you see it. Do not be distracted by "My Favorite Things" which shows as a free download, but for which they'll charge you a buck (and, anyway, is "My Favorite Things" really a Christmas song). In fact, all of the tracks that show as no charge are a buck...except for "O Come All Ye Faithful". Which is still free. Get it now before they figure that out.
The Rumbar Girls are a promotional gimmick, not a real group, although life does sometimes imitate art. STROH Rumbar is a spicy rum made in Austria for over 170 years. Lately, they've been intent upon conquering the UK rum market. Not sure if the employment of the Rumbar girls and their extended commercials/songs/videos is related to that or not, and this would probably annoy me if I lived in Europe. But, as a non-European, I have to admit to being tickled by this Disco Polka tune for the STROH winter campaign. "In The Snow" can be downloaded free at the Girls' web site. While you're there, you might as well pick up the summer hit "Feel The Spirit" as well. Stick around to read more about the trio, including their favorite Christmas songs or head over to their Facebook page and see what's shakin' there. Here's the video for those who'd rather not. |
The FREE ListHere we hope to direct you to some of the Christmas music on the web that can be yours absolutely free. We will not direct you to mp3 or sharity sites, here, but only to artist sites, label sites, and other authorized and unquestionably legal locations. ArchivesDecember 22-31, 2010 Categories
