Ever hear that on those late night TV commercials? I always thought it was funny that some of those commercials would run for years.
It is kind of weird to advise you of limited time Christmas music opportunities when its not even July. And, who knows, maybe there is more time than advertised. But maybe there isn't.

Certainly, in the context of Kickstarter, we know that there's a hard and fast deadline. Unlike some of the other crowd sourcing outfits, Kickstarter requires that the artists reach their funding goal or they get nothing at all. And this project is down to its final days.
The Indie Folk/Alt Rock group known as Waterdeep is raising money via Kickstarter for a Christmas album and the accompanying musical (or, if you prefer, a musical and the accompanying Christmas album). I'm pretty sure Waterdeep, which is primarily the husband and wife team of Don and Lori Chaffer, has nothing to do with Dungeons and Dragons (Waterdeep being a major city in the D&D universe). Regardless, the Kansas City couple now based in Nashville have been making music for 20 years or more with the eponymous double album from 2014 being their most recent.
"The Unusual Tale of Mary & Joseph's Baby" is, as it sounds, the telling of the nativity, but gives the story a bit of modern context. And it's a comedy as well as a musical, we're told. The Kickstarter drive raises money for both the album and the play and the hard deadline of July 3 is truly a hard deadline as the play is scheduled for an August run at New York's Firebone Theater as part of the Fringe Festival (as well as a December run in Nashville).
Waterdeep previously had success in the theater as one of their earlier efforts inspired the musical "Son of a Gun", which was a Eugene O'Neil winner in 2011. And the music of Waterdeep has previously been featured in television shows like "One Tree Hill".
As usual, with Kickstarter, there is other swag beyond the album, depending upon your level of support (including T-shirts and tickets to the show) and, if I'm reading it correctly, your pledge or donation may even be tax deductible (but don't quote me on that).
But you must act now. The Kickstarter campaign ends on July 3. That's this Sunday.

Bifrost Arts is, for 30 days, making their entire catalog available in one free download package through Noisetrade. That's 53 tracks, including some rare "B-sides". Bifrost Arts is not a label, nor is it a band in any conventional sense. They are a "sacred music non-profit" who feel that the sacred hymns and carols we know and love have been hijacked by people in the music industry for their own purposes. It's the musical equivalent of pointing out that the money lenders have taken over the temple. Additionally, Bifrost Arts uncovers some long-forgotten hymns and carols.
Now I can see how that description can be off-putting. I get it. But all I really care about is the music. And the rotating cast of Bifrost Arts features a veritable who's who of the best of the Indie scene. You should recognize the names of Leigh Nash, David Bazan, Sufjan Stevens, and Rosie Thomas immediately. And some will recognize many of the others, here, including Aimee Wilson, Trent Dabbs, Sam Bush, Laura Gibson, and Damien Jurado.
Not every track, here, is Christmas oriented, but they're all devotional. And it bears saying that, while you can download the Bifrost Arts catalog free for the next 30 days, any tips will go to good works including residencies for Christian artists in Arab countries. Just sayin'.
