I am so proud of my little web site, right now, because, back in 2016, we introduced you to a fabulous Dutch Americana band and their fabulous Christmas album. And now they're back for their second sip from the cup of Christmas cheer and, thanks to us, you already know who they are, right? (Stubby, who are they?)
They are Hidden Agenda Deluxe. And their 2016 holiday album with Oklahoma's Carter Sampson was "Christmas From Amsterdam to Oklahoma". Their forthcoming seasonal set is "Angels In The Snow". This time, they're teaming up with Canadian singer-songwriter Oh Susanna. And this cover of The Band's "Christmas Must Be Tonight" from the forthcoming album can be yours for the low low price of FREE via Bandcamp.
Since then, it seems that touring with accomplished female artists at Christmas time has become a tradition for Hidden Agenda Deluxe. Though there was no album to celebrate last year's holiday tour with UK Indie Folk artist Danni Nicholls, it was decided to head back into the studio this year with Oh Susanna in advance of their December dates.
"Angels In The Snow" has a bit more Americana Blues flavor than it's predecessor, IMO. In addition to "Christmas Must Be Tonight", the album includes covers of two Lyle Lovett songs, Joni Mitchell's "River" and Steve Earle's "Christmas Time In Washington" (Oh Susanna handles vocals on the latter two). And, of course, some fantastic originals. And here's some more good news. While we don't yet have a release date, you can currently stream "Angels In The Snow" at Bandcamp. My favorite track? I'm torn between "Angels In The Snow" and "After The Holidays".
