Michael McDonald has a Christmas album coming this October (October 12, to be precise). And I know it seems like he's put out a dozen of those already. I certainly thought so. But, actually, no. He's only had two "all new" Christmas albums--"In The Spirit" in 2001 and the 2005 Hallmark release "Through The Many Winters". He's also had two Christmas "collections", mix and matching assorted tracks from the two "all new" records, the "20th Century Masters Christmas Collection" and "This Christmas". And, lest we forget, there was a live Christmas DVD as well.
The good news: on October 12, Michael McDonald will release "Season of Peace". The bad news: it's another collection (that will mean McDonald will have released more Christmas collections than original Christmas albums...just sayin'). The somewhat mitigating news: there will be one brand new track on "Season of Peace", a new version of "Winter Wonderland" featuring Jake Shimabukuro. The very best news: we actually have cover art and a track list. So God bless you, Michael; we needed some cover art and track listings before Christmas in July comes to a close and, thanks to you, we have that.
Oh, and did I mention? The cover art is a painting done by McDonald himself.
