"Winter Lives" is, as you might expect, a winter themed record as opposed to a Christmas disc. Think of it as picking up where the 2005 EP "Winter Songs" left off. Or not.
And, hey, we've actually got a song from the record--"The Glow"--which premiered at Brooklyn Vegan--and it kicks winter ass. BV wrote it up as lying between Springsteen and the Gin Blossoms and I think that's a pretty fair assessment. "Winter Lives" drops November 4 and you can pre-order the CD and/or LP at the Matt Pond PA web store. Sounds like something that would be killer in a shuffle with Katie Melua's coming record.
By the way, Matt seems to have a thing for fawns (actually, I think its a metaphor). Regardless, Matt Pond PA has a free collection of Fawns and Demos and what-not on Noisetrade right now. It's called "Free The Fawns". Not that it's Christmasy or anything (although there is a "Winter Fawn"). But free music is always a cool thing. It's there for you to be had. Just sayin'.
