The Empty Hearts are a Rock 'N' Roll supergroup, featuring former members of the Cars, Blondie, the Romantics, and the Chesterfield Kings. See? Why didn't anybody tell me about this?
Checking out their eponymous debut album, I was thinking about all of the branches that have sprouted off of that rock 'n' roll tree. The Rock The Empty Hearts play is from the original trunk of that tree. And that was kinda their point in getting together in the first place. Andy Babiuk (Chesterfield Kings) called Wally Palmer (Romantics) one day and said, “Remember when you first picked up a guitar because you loved the Beatles, the Stones and the Kinks? Wouldn’t it be great to get in a room, write songs and play them like we did when we were teenagers? And that’s just how it started.” (The other two members, btw, are Elliott Easton of the Cars and Clem Burke of Blondie.)
So what do we know about this here Christmas album? Beyond the fact that they're making one for release this year, pretty much nothing. We do know the band had Debbi and Vicki Peterson of the Bangles in to do some backing vocals. But we'll have our ears to the ground and you can keep your eyes on Facebook.
Meantime, we don't have any Christmas videos or audio to tease the record, but you've gotta hear these guys. A lot of different textures on that debut record and every track is a winner. But I'm going with.....this one.
