Since I'm beat, let's just kick these two out the door on the fifth night of Hanukkah.
This year, Six13 finally got around to collecting many of their Hanukkah tracks in one place. "The Chanukah Collection" contains some of their best. "I Light It", "Chanukah Rights", and last year's Taylor Swift "Shake It Off" parody, "Chanukah". What you won't find on the collection is this year's jam--"Watch Me (Spin/Drey-Drey)", a Hanukkah mash-up of music from Silento, Drake, and Cheddar Da Connect. The single appears to be an iTunes exclusive at the moment.
Like Six13, the Maccabeats released an album this year--hard copy CD and everything. Unlike Six13, "A Maccabeats Hanukkah" features primarily more traditional Hanukkah tunes (done their way, of course), rather than their annual Hanukkah singles. That includes "Latke Recipe", this year's parody of Walk The Moon's "Shut Up And Dance"; not on the album, and, so far, not available as a single. Rights fees are a bee-yotch. But follow along because "Latke Recipe" isn't just a song....it's a recipe. Potato pancakes for everyone!
