On the third night of Hanukkah....we had computer issues...or internet issues...or something. Happened as soon as I posted last night's entry. Could not access my website to edit. Could not access my website to view. Could not access my web host's home page. Could not access Bandcamp. What? That's the part that confused me. Weebly? Mmm, 'K. Weebly and Bandcamp? What's the connection? Why not anybody else...just those two? Tried everything I could think of. New computer (I really hated dragging that thing over here). New browser. Rebooted my modem and router. Bought a new modem. Same result every time. Then, about 10:30 pm tonight, everything was back to normal (well, as normal as things get around here). It's a Hanukkah Miracle! The Festival of bytes!
Well, anyway, I did warn you I could go silent at any time. And it's been a long day of doctor stuff and Internet frustration. And I'm tired and longing for sleep. So we've only got one little Night Three gifty for you (hey, this whole Hanukkah thing started out as just one song a night, you know). But it's a fairly good one, I think.
A couple of quick updates, though. Got everything worked out with Avi Frier. Very nice man. Might share some more of his Hanukkah Country tunes before the week is out. And Shir Soul's "Hanukkah" "Africa" parody is now available for purchase from CD Baby. Cool!
I do not know how this little gem from eclectic multi-instrumentalist Chico Mann has escaped me all these years, but I've found it at last. "Light of Love" is from 2012 and features vocals from Alecia Chakour. We all know how great the Sharon Jones Hanukkah track, "8 Days of Hanukkah", was. It's not that there isn't other Hanukkah Soul. It's just that Hanukkah Soul that good is rare. So add this soulful slice to your Hanukkah platter....latkes, sufganiyot, Sharon Jones, and Chico Mann (with Alecia Chakour). Mmmm good.
