First up, we got some clarification from Roy Forbes on his "Snap, Crackle, Pop" Christmas show on Sunday, December 18. Roy says he's sticking with 78s for his segment which will air between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m., Pacific Time, on Sunday. I swear I used to follow the show across the country on the big CBC map, but Roy says there's only one time for Internet purposes--8:00 to 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time. Just head to the North By Northwest page on the CBC site and click "Listen" in the black bar at the top of the page. It should be on CBC One. The good news...I don't have to be up before 11. Dennis Flannigan's show on listener supported KBRD is also on Sundays and also in the Pacific time zone, but a tad later. Dennis will air his Christmas show of Phonographic Memories at Noon Pacific Time. Expect Dennis to dig deep into his reservoir of holiday 78s, but he may toss in a track or two that are more recent. Me personally, I'm looking forward to hearing, hopefully, a clean (or clean-er) copy of "All Around The Christmas Tree" by Mark Warnow & Dick Todd. I swear, I've bought a half dozen copies of that 78 and they are all scratched to heck (they break easy too...something about the war time shellac, I suspect). So, anyway, check in with Dennis Flannigan at Noon Pacific this Sunday on KBRD (the "Listen" button is in the upper left on this one), and again on Christmas morning/afternoon.

Meanwhile, over on WBOI in Northeast Indiana, my old friend Rob Martinez gets to play Radio Santa from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. You may know Rob by his Internet handle CaptainOT, under which name he has delighted and amazed obsessive Christmas collectors everywhere on his Christmas Yuleblog. I feel safe in saying that, had there not been a Christmas Yuleblog, there would have been no Stubby's. Now, I'm not willing to concede that Rob's library of Christmas music is larger than mine, but his is plenty large. And I will say, and have always said, that the man has more of the Spirit of Christmas in his little finger than I have in my whole body. He's a right jolly old elf, indeed, and I'm interested to hear what he can do on the radio. Rob will also be playing Radio Santa on Wednesday night (7 to 9 Eastern) and each of his shows will be segmented into themes--such as "Overlooked Christmas Songs", "Christmas With The Beatles" and "Christmas MashUps". You can "tune in" to--well, I'm just gonna call it "Christmas with the Captain"--by going to the WBOI web site and clicking on "Listen Live" (upper right this time and 89.1 is the one you want).
