This holiday s#$& just got real, y'all. Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings have finished a Christmas album which should be released later this year. NOW, I'm excited! Sharon Jones is probably THE most exciting artist around today. And, while we've had the occasional Christmas song from Sharon & Dap Tone Records over the years (including the classic "Ain't No Chimneys In The Projects"), now we're talking an entire album.
Sharon dropped the news in an interview with Las Vegas Weekly.
"We’ve got a Christmas album! It’s done. And we have a Hanukkah song! Wait till you hear the songs—we took ’em to church, some of them came out like rock ’n’ roll. I almost want to sing some to you. (laughs)"
A Hanukkah song! Did you catch that cats and kittens? I'm always after artists to do at least one song for Hanukkah on their holiday records. I am so in for this super R&B explosion of seasonal greatness. And, knowing Dap Tone, we're likely to get it in both CD and vinyl form.
