And that's because this wonderful new track from Deidre & The Dark is FREE...but ONLY through Thanksgiving. And I don't want to take the chance that you'll miss it.
Deidre Muro resides in Brooklyn. And I gather Deidre & The Dark have been, well... dark for a while, in that they haven't issued any new music lately. "The Ghost Of Christmas Past" is a song Deidre says she's been working on for 3 years or more. I get it. You've got this sound in your head and you're not releasing it until the sound in your head is on that disc or tape or...shoot, I never know what to call digital recordings (bytes, maybe?). But she's got it where she wants it, now, and we're thrilled to death to hear it.
Deidre describes herself in terms of duality--yin and yang, light and darkness, past and present--and that certainly comes through in the music. "The Ghost Of Christmas Past" is at once a throwback to the 60s and a thoroughly modern sound, at once light and frivolous and shadowy and mysterious--a fantastic Noir Pop single.
So here's what you gotta do. Head over to the Deirdre & The Dark Facebook page and click on the link to "unlock" the song. You'll have to enter your email when prompted to do so and then they'll send you the "unlock" link. But you gotta hurry because it's only free through Thanksgiving. Officially, the song will be released on Monday at all the usual on-line digital sellers; but, there, it'll cost you 99 cents (not that that's the worst thing in the world) whereas you have an opportunity--for a few days--to get the song for free. And it's a good one. Make sure to give the lady a "like" while you're on Facebook; it's the least you can do.
