Back in the day, when Top 40 was king and jingle companies were making money hand over fist, those companies used to produce rather elaborate records to promote their new jingle packages. TM Productions, based in Texas, created perhaps the ultimate most legendary such package in 1978..."Tomorrow Radio". "Tomorrow Radio" featured a lengthy drama in which a struggling radio station changes its format to.....Punk Country. "I wanna whip your cow, show me how, show me how". Back in 1978, we disc jockeys listened and laughed. Punk Country was oddly intriguing, but still absurd. That was kind of the point.
Well, it's 2012. And Punk Country actually exists. Yes, it really does. It's better than anything we imagined in 1978. And the group that's leading the way is the Swedish band The Linedance Fever. These guys are truly awesome. Last year, they delivered (IMHO) the best version of Wham's "Last Christmas" ever recorded. I love it even more today than I did at the time.
This year, The Linedance Fever tops even themselves with the all new original "365 Days Of Christmas". When our friend Mitchell Kezin talks about the "good Christmas music", this is exactly what he's talking about. Listen to The Linedance Fever via the video below and, once you can peel yourself off of the ceiling, go get it at Amazon, iTunes, Bandcamp or Google Play. It'll be the best buck you spend this year. Or add it to your Spotify playlist. And don't forget to pay the band a visit at their official web site.
