I still have zero time, but I know a lot of folks missed The List last year. I can't promise it will be everything it was, but I figure a half-assed List is better than none.
At the moment, I'm not going to go into what may be coming this Christmas...its way too early for that anyway. I do have a sense that the age of floods of big label, big artist holiday releases is at or near an end. I mean, how many major artists are out there who haven't done something Christmas already? I was even trying to come up with some nostalgia acts, today, that haven't done the holiday thing yet and I pretty much drew a blank. This is actually not a bad thing. The fewer major artists throwing big shadows, the more we can focus on the indie artists turning out real gems in relative obscurity. Even when NOBODY is making Christmas music, SOMEBODY is making Christmas music. That's one thing that makes it so great.
The catalogs of holiday music that used to appear in May or June now arrive in August and September (the Internets make that possible) and the online retailers have little posted as of yet. So it was strictly an exercise in google-ology to find the meager offerings of The List as it stands today. Special thanks to my friend smacque for the tips on Denise Williams and a couple of others. Also managed to find some quality freebies (just a few) while I was a-huntin' and a-peckin', so we'll get those up on the Free List fairly soon, as well. How much more Stubbys we get in 2014 is, at the moment, a mystery. I guess we'll all just have to find out as things roll along.
Peace, out.
