Wanna hear a cool Christmas story? There's a band called Delta Rae. They've got a somewhat unique sound that combines Folk and Pop and Soul and a few other things. We just call 'em "Alt Pop Americana" for short. Until recently, Delta Rae was signed to Big Machine Records. That's the label that recently sold the rights to Taylor Swift's back catalog against her wishes. Taylor will be fine and she's promised to re-record everything beginning next year. But Delta Rae decided they wanted to go independent again (a decision made long before the Taylor Swift issue arose) and launched a Kickstarter campaign, hoping to raise $30,000 for their next project...and fearing that they might not make it. They raised that in 30 minutes. By the time the campaign closed, Delta Rae had raised nearly a half million dollars. They kept adding stretch goals as the pledges continued to come in. They met every stretch goal and then some. One of the final stretch goals was a digital Christmas album which all of their more than five thousand backers will receive FOR FREE. Delta Rae hasn't said when the Christmas album will be recorded (the original album they were shooting for wasn't due until spring 2020) or whether anyone other than their backers will get a chance to hear it (but why waste a perfectly good Christmas album). So all the way at the bottom of this post, we've just listed them as "Possible". But isn't that a nice story?
Also, we've got the line-up of this year's Real Gone Christmas releases, most of which are expected to be released around November 8. Here they are:
Jim Reeves: Twelve Songs Of Christmas (Expanded Edition)
Leroy Anderson: A Christmas Festival and Christmas Carols (The Complete Christmas Collection) (2-CD Set)
Stanley Black: Christmas Holiday For Romance (first-ever CD release!)
Chet Atkins: The Complete RCA and Columbia Christmas Recordings (2-CD Set)
Eugene Ormandy: The Complete Columbia Christmas Albums Collection
Great Songs Of Christmas: Classic Carols and Pop Favorites (a selection of songs from the Goodyear and Grants series)
Everyone seems quite intrigued by that last title. I know a Christmas music obsessive that made his own "Turning Rubber Into Gold" Christmas comp from the Goodyear collections. Thanks to Chip at The Yule Log, we now know the tracks on that one and, included in their number are two tracks from Gary Puckett that have not made it to CD in all the many years since they first appeared on vinyl, "It Came Upon A Midnight Clear" and "O Holy Night". Here's the full list of tracks (not necessarily in order):
O Come All Ye Faithful / Gesu Bambino......Percy Faith

It's expected that there will be more albums in that series in the years ahead. OK. On with Not The List.
But you've got two weeks (until 9/14) to get in on the early "partnership"/crowdfunding/bundlemania/pre-order with Leah. Official release could be as early as late September or as late as November. Why deal with such uncertainty? Get your order in now. Just sayin'
