Rounding the turn and into the homestretch of our eight nights of Hanukkah. Our readership tends to go way down when I do this every year. But I don't care. I do it because somebody has to. Sure, you get a goofy Hanukkah song or a parody and people on the music sites give it a mention. I happen to think Hanukkah music deserves the same respect (and, sometimes, lack thereof) that Christmas music gets.
Julie's Hanukkah song this year is "The Spark". Like some of the other Hanukkah songs we've featured, "The Spark" acknowledges that the world can be a pretty dark place of late. But Hanukkah and the warm glow of candlelight from the Menorah serve as a reminder that we each have the power to bring light to the darkness. Focus on the good, the joy, the hope, the pride--let all that other stuff go...it's just a bag of rocks weighing you down.
Light a fire for the world
Be the path through the dark
Be the answer, the love
Be the hope, be the spark
You can get "The Spark" from iTunes or Amazon. But to really get The Spark, you have to be the spark.
About the only Hanukkah track we got to mention before Hanukkah started this year was "Hanukkah's Child" from Ariel Rose. I don't know if we previewed the full song or not but, regardless, here it is. Grab the tune from CD Baby.
